Aerion continues to fill out its ranks with seasoned aviation professionals, this time naming former Nextant Aerospace CEO Sean McGeough as regional vice president for the Northeast U.S. In that role, McGeough will be responsible for developing and expanding the market for Aerion’s AS2 supersonic business jet in the Northeast. The appointment follows the opening of the order book in May for the aircraft.

McGeough joins a list of established industry leaders taking roles at Aerion in recent months. Former Embraer Executive Jets chief Ernie Edwards came on board as chief commercial officer this spring. Also joining the company were former Embraer Executive Jets vice president of marketing Clint Clouatre, aero law attorney Matthew Cram and Lisa Holden, formerly of Virgin Galactic’s The Spaceship Company.

McGeough had led Nextant since January 2013. During his time there he oversaw the launch of the company’s second product, the King Air 90-based G90XT, and helped pave the way for a potential third remanufacturing candidate. Certification of the G90XT, originally targeted for the second quarter, is anticipated shortly. Before joining Nextant, McGeough spent 13 years with Hawker Beechcraft, rising to the role of president for the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia markets. He has also served with Diamond Aircraft Industries.
